Module I - Introduction to Blacksmithing and Point Disciplines 9/30 Introduction to Blacksmithing
10/07 Square Point
10/14 Chisel Point
10/21 Round Point
10/28 Diamond PointThis module is made up of five, three hour long classes that take place once per week for five weeks.
The intention of the points discipline is to improve body mechanics, arm strength, and hand-eyecoordination.The disciplines are a wonderfully meditative action and once mastered they can help you find a good familiar place to re-adjust your body after not forging for a while, or prep you as an all inclusive warm up for body, mind, and eye before taking on new or complicated forging in the fire. Making all 4 points at the beginning of your day sets you right. For those of you who love challenges, try the 200 point challenge. This involves making 50 good points of each style and in doing so label them one through fifty. This is to chart your progression and development as you go forward. This is not a challenge to band out 200 points as fast as you can; it is an insight into one’s self, how you comprehend self-sought challenges, and how far you can push yourself to excellence.
