Each year, an estimated 1.5 million children and youth experience homelessness in our nations towns, cities and counties. Those students lack the stability and peace of mind we all hope to be able to give our children. This conference is designed for people who are new to homeless education, or who would like a refresher on the basics of law, policy, and implementation. Topics will cover eligibility, the role of liaisons, school selection, transportation, immediate enrollment, disputes, preschool, and unaccompanied youth. Then, it will use this information to walk through real-life problems, step-by-step. Plenty of time for questions and answers will be included. Presenters will offer concrete strategies for implementing the law in school districts. NAEHCY supports those in the field through legislative advocacy and technical assistance.
