Olympic athletes Lolo Jones, Ashton Eaton, Reese Hoffa, and Queen Harrison are coming to GAC on Friday, May 17 to compete in the Atlanta Grand Prix, a professional track meet that will allow fans to interact with some of the world’s top Track & Field Olympians!
Over 100 Atlanta-area high school track and field athletes will be participating in the meet as well, by invitation only.
The event is hosted by Doyle Management and USA Track & Field-Georgia an is the first track and field event of its kind that Atlanta has seen in 20 years.
Events include: Men’s 100m, 400m, 1 mile, 400m hurdles, Shot Put, and 4x100m relay. Women’s events will include 100m, 400m, 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, High Jump, and Shot Put. A high school boys 1 mile, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay will take place, as well as high school girls 200m and 4x400m relay.
The Boston-based rock and roll band, the Velveteen Playboys, will be emceeing the event and hosting a live concert at the end of the meet. Admission is FREE and donations will be taken at the door supporting the Boston bombing victims as well as Track and Field Athletes Association.
