AlphaTrion bought his first set of turntables in December of ’99 after hearing the Wave Twisters album by DJ Qbert and a few mixes by AK1200 and Aphrodite. Prior to that he broke his mother’s 45 rpm turntable by trying to scratch his sister’s copy of a Bangles’ single after seeing the video for “Baby Got Back” when he was 8 years old.
For the first three years his time was split between spinning drum & bass, b-boying and digging for breaks simply for collecting. In 2003, AlphaTrion released his first b-boy mixtape which got him a chance to to DJ his first b-boy jam, Triptych Smackdown, alongside DJ’s Faust & Shortee. This lead to getting booked for b-boy jams for the next decade. In that time he has played in ten states and countless events.
Currently AlphaTrion spends most of his time playing b-boy battles, All Styles battles and club events. Although known as a b-boy breaks DJ, he is an open style DJ specializing in a diverse array of genres with a deep love for regional dance music particularly Baltimore Club, New Orleans Bounce, Chicago Juke and ATL Trap and Bass.
