Students will build on their basic knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) by learning additional vocabulary signs, phrases, sentence structures and more about the Deaf culture; as well as improving receptive skills by signing with others without using voices. Prerequisite: Students must have completed an American Sign Language I class or have a knowledge of the manual alphabet, numbers, basic signs and basic sentence structures. Materials: Students will need to purchase a copy of "A Basic Course in American Sign Language" (ISBN: 0932666426, spiral-bound soft-cover, list price $32.95) prior to the first class meeting, as well as bring a notebook and pencil or pen.
