The Taekwon-Do taught in this class is the original Korean martial art form developed by General Choi Hong Hi, the founder and father of Taekwon-Do. Students will learn self-defense, discipline and respect from the original Taekwon-Do Tenets of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and the Indomitable Spirit. Training will be both physical (exercises designed to produce power and stamina) and academic (introduction to some Korean words, history, and technical teaching). Students in this class will be able to progress from a 10th Gup Low White Belt to a 7th Gup High Yellow Belt. Late registration will not be accepted. This class is very traditional and disciplined. Prerequisite: Students must be a minimum of 8 years old at the start of the session -- NO EXCEPTIONS. Students who are promoted to a high yellow belt will be required to become a member of the United States Taekwon-Do Federation (annual membership fee is $50). Attire: ITF Taekwon-Do uniform for returning students (available for purchase directly from the instructor); martial arts uniform or comfortable gym clothing for new students; Flip-flops, sandals or sneakers.
