The National Center for Civil and Human Rights commemorates the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a viewing of the highly-acclaimed documentary, "From Swastika to Jim Crow," followed by a conversation with award-winning scholar Dr. Joyce Ladner interviewed by Pulitzer Prize winner Hank Klibanoff. This event takes place in conjunction with The Breman Jewish Museum's exhibition, "Beyond Swatiska and Jim Crow: Jewish Refugee Scholars at Black Colleges." It tells the story of Jewish academics who, dismissed from their teaching positions in Nazi German and Austria, escaped to America where they found new lives as academics in the historically black colleges of the Jim Crow South.
