Chamber Recital with Pepe Romero and Alberto Urrozwith Maria Valdés and members of the SOM facultyWorks by Boccherini, Albéniz, Granados, de Falla CENCIA is pleased to welcome classical guitarist Pepe Romero and pianist Alberto Urroz to our celebration of Spanish arts and culture!  The early part of the last century is regarded as a period of astonishing artistic creativity in Spain, one in which both “art” and “folk” traditions merged, giving way to an amazing number of beautiful literary and musical creations. Virtually all important avant-garde artists of the first half of the twentieth century were influenced by that form of Andalusian folklore known as Flamenco. These include poets and playwrights such as Federico García Lorca and composers such as Manuel de Falla, Isaac Albéniz, and Joaquín Rodrigo, artists whose works will be represented.
