This is the fourth event in the German Movie Night fall series on contemporary Austrian films. "Das weiße Band" ("The White Ribbon") is an aesthetically compelling drama about a terror-ridden village before the outbreak of World War I. The critically acclaimed, black-and-white film by Austrian director Michael Haneke tells the story of a local pastor whose harsh punishments for innocent transgressions result in a series of unexplained, violent events. The drama beautifully showcases how psychological terror leads to the downfall of community life.OU Community only event. http://petrelnet.oglethorpe.edu/PetrelPoints/default.aspx">Earn a Petrel Point.
