Atlanta Chamber Players opens its 37th season with this exciting semi-finals competition of the "Rapido! Take Three!!" composition contest. They will perform the three Southeast semi-finalist works chosen from among almost 50 regional entries. These compositions were written during a 14-day period this summer specifically for the unusual quartet of oboe, violin, cello and piano, and feature the required element of dance. The Southeast region finalist work will be chosen at the concert. All regional finalists will compete in January, 2013, for the one National First Prize Commission. This concert opens with Frenchman Gabriel Faure's beloved romantic "C Minor Quartet for Piano and Strings," which the group performed in August at the San Miguel International Chamber Music Festival in central Mexico. Acclaimed Atlanta violinist Helen Hwaya Kim will be making her Atlanta Chamber Players debut in this concert. This event takes place at the Walter Hill Auditorium at the High Museum of Art.
